Grand Cœur est une sculpture gonflable lumineuse de grande dimension, conçue pour dialoguer avec l’espace public, le paysage ou de vastes volumes intérieurs. Sa forme épurée et son rouge intense s’imposent par un jeu de contrastes : l’œuvre est à la fois monumentale et fragile, vibrante et vulnérable. À sa base, le mot FEAR (peur), volontairement discret, rappelle la tension permanente entre l’élan du cœur et les appréhensions humaines. Installée devant le Grand Palais, la sculpture se transforme en une expérience sensorielle unique. Si, de jour, sa présence physique interpelle et attire le regard, elle se métamorphose la nuit en une lanterne monumentale, enveloppant les visiteurs dans une aura lumineuse. Grand Cœur invite à explorer la dualité du cœur humain — sa fragilité et sa puissance — tout en questionnant notre capacité à privilégier l’empathie et l’ouverture face au repli sur soi.
Au-delà de l’expérience physique, l’œuvre interroge nos comportements numériques. Derrière son allure « Pop » et joyeuse, ce cœur XXL donne corps à l’icône universelle du « Like » et pointe un paradoxe de notre époque : le passage de l’émotion sincère au simple trophée digital. Là où les réseaux sociaux réduisent nos sentiments à un clic superficiel, cette installation détourne ce symbole de validation éphémère pour lui redonner une présence physique et monumentale. Elle nous rappelle que, face à la peur et à l’isolement, la véritable empathie n’est pas virtuelle, mais bien réelle. – Samantha Barroero

(My Heart Is Bigger Than My Fear), 2025
Illuminated inflatable sculpture, 800 × 800 × 300 cm
Grand Cœur is a large-scale illuminated inflatable sculpture conceived to engage in dialogue with public space, natural landscapes, and vast architectural interiors. Its pure form and intense red colour create a powerful interplay of contrasts: the work is both monumental and fragile, vibrant and vulnerable. At its base, the word FEAR appears deliberately discreet, evoking the constant tension between the impulse of the heart and human apprehensions.
Installed in front of the Grand Palais, the sculpture transforms into a unique sensory experience. By day, its physical presence captures attention and invites contemplation; by night, it becomes a monumental lantern, surrounding visitors with a radiant luminous aura.
Grand Cœur invites us to explore the duality of the human heart — its fragility and its strength — while questioning our capacity to choose empathy, openness, and connection over fear and withdrawal.
Beyond its physical presence, the work also reflects on our digital behaviours. Behind its joyful and Pop-inspired appearance, this XXL heart embodies the universal icon of the “Like” and reveals one of the paradoxes of our time: the transformation of genuine emotion into a simple digital trophy.
Where social media reduces our feelings to a superficial click, this installation reclaims that symbol of fleeting validation by giving it a monumental physical existence. It reminds us that in the face of fear and isolation, true empathy is not virtual — it is profoundly real.
